Performing art
In almost all performing arts you can hear this statement: „Our profession is a restricted field”.
Well, if there is a really restricted genre, then it is particularly true for the hurdy-gurdy players.
When I started making music, there was only one place in all of Hungary, in the Óbuda Music School
in Budapest where one could learn to play the hurdy-gurdy. Here in this school I met all of my friend musicians
with whom I am still working with. I was also very lucky in being able to know the old peasant musicians of the
Southern part of the Great Hungarian Plain so that I was still given the chance to collect music and to learn from them.
